God has manifested Himself in many forms; among them are the following:

a. . By this we do not mean that the LORD appeared in the form of animals, but rather in . Genesis 3:8 and 12:7 illustrate this fully: “They heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden” (Gen. 3:8); “The LORD unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him” (). See also Genesis 16:7, 10, 13; Exodus 24:9-11; Genesis 18:1-16; Judges 13:22, 23; Genesis 32:24-30.

God also manifested Himself as — “The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them” (); “The angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shall call his name Ishmael; because ” (Gen. 16:11). It is agreed among most Bible scholars that the Angel of the LORD is no other than the Lord Jesus Himself.

b. . Man could not see God; therefore, God manifested Himself in forms from which He spoke to and led him. One such form was the : “When the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I” (); Another form was the and a : “The LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night” ().

c. . Again we state that we are rejoicing that God other than in His Son, Jesus Christ! God does not choose to manifest Himself in a vapor, but rather in form: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. . . . And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” (John 1:1, 14). See also ; Hebrews 1:3.
